The Laurel Volunteer Ambulance
Service was started by private citizens of our community that saw a need for emergency
medical service. The City began funding
the ambulance service in 1976. It has
been run by volunteers that have unselfishly given many hours of service to
this community and the surrounding area.
The Laurel Volunteer Ambulance
Service is located in the Safety Complex.
The Safety Complex also houses the Police Department and the Fire
Department.
Currently, the Laurel Volunteer
Ambulance Service has 18 Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technicians
that volunteer their time to answer every emergency medical call that comes
in. All EMT’s must obtain 48 hours of
continuing education and attend a 24-hour refresher course every two years to
keep their license. This way, they are
able to keep up with all the changes in pre-hospital emergency care. The City of Laurel has two fully-equipped ambulances
ready to roll as soon as an emergency call comes in. Each ambulance carries an Automatic External
Defibrillator.
We welcome tour groups or anyone just wanting to see our facility.
