Rick
Musson began his law enforcement career in 1982 as a Laurel Police
Reserve Officer. On February 14, 1983, he began his full-time career when
he worked his first shift as a sworn police officer for the Laurel Police
Department. In August 1994, he was promoted to the position of Captain/Assistant
Chief. In August of 1998, he was promoted to his current position as Chief of
Police.
Early in his law enforcement career, Rick was privileged to become a certified
PR-24 (side-handled baton) instructor. Later, he became a firearms instructor
and a basic SWAT school instructor. Chief Musson spent eighteen years as a SWAT
member with the Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team. Chief Musson is a
graduate of the 212th session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
He is also a member of the International Association of Chief's of Police.
